A Hiker’s Paradise
18 stunning hikes and walks leave right from our doorstep, ranging from gentle strolls down the riverside to scaling the summit of Cathedral Peak itself. Daily complimentary guided hikes are offered including highlighted walks with the novelty of tea, coffee and rusks in the mountains, bird watching and Bushman San Art Sites. Our Cathedral 4 Challenge is a fantastic achievement for any hiker, and will earn you an official medal, certificate and place on our Cathedral 4 Board.
The Great Outdoors
With a range of outdoor activities on offer, you are guaranteed to enjoy every moment at Cathedral Peak Hotel.
From volleyball, outdoor chess, mini-golf and bowling competitions, badminton and tennis matches, complimentary rock climbing to relaxing on one of the loungers by our heated and cold swimming pools, there is something for everyone.
Those wanting a bit more excitement will enjoy various mountain bike trails, a 5km jogging route, one or two-hour horse rides for beginner or intermediate riders and quad biking up into the hills past Lake William.
Our three on-site dams offer you the opportunity to either fly or bass fish. Lake Jarred, a close 15-minute walk, is stocked with rainbow trout and a little further afield, Lake Byron and Lake William both offer bass.
A helicopter is also available for jaw-dropping nearby sightseeing flights including the very popular champagne stopover, perfect for popping the question or breath-taking wedding photos.
For the smaller kids we have an awesome playground with trampolines, splash pool for those hot summers days and daily complimentary pony rides.
Golfing in the Drakensberg
Our crowning jewel is the hotel’s very own 9-hole golf course, with alternate tees for an 18-hole game. Ranging a glorious 5542m, your round will end at a beautiful clubhouse terrace boasting panoramic mountain views. The clubhouse offers a TV Lounge, toilets, showers and change-rooms. Indoor Sporting & Gaming
Stay in shape at our fully-equipped gym with steam room, challenge friends and family to a game of squash, and show off your skills with a table tennis match.
Our Games room is a great place to stay entertained on those colder, rainy days and is enjoyed by teenagers in the evenings. Offering teens and adults a fun space in which they can enjoy a game of pool or table tennis whilst listening to their favourite tunes on the Bluetooth speaker. For gaming enthusiasts why not take advantage of our X-Box consoles.

We offer a daily entertainment programme all year round and a children’s entertainment programme on long weekends and during school holidays.
Our daily entertainment programme includes up to three daily guided hikes some of which include the novelty of tea and coffee in the mountains, various quizzes, mini-golf, volleyball and table tennis competitions, rock climbing and so much more.
Our children’s entertainment programme includes short walks, bug hunts, tractor and pony rides, craft sessions, movie nights with popcorn, soccer matches, games and so much more.
