Message From the General Manager
As spring brings longer days, vibrant wildflowers, and golden sunsets across the Drakensberg, we are reminded of the beauty and energy of this season. The approaching summer storms promise to refresh our rivers and paint the mountains in lush green, creating the perfect backdrop for festive celebrations.
At Cathedral Peak Hotel, sustainability remains a top priority. This year, we have expanded our solar photovoltaic system to boost renewable energy production, further reducing our environmental footprint while still providing the comfort and experience our guests have come to expect.
Exciting improvements are also underway on our grounds! The bowling green is being resurfaced to offer an even better experience for guests to enjoy this classic pastime. New windows are being added to our popular 308 and 316 rooms, enhancing both comfort and views, while the climbing tower is receiving a brand-new roof after recent wind damage.
Our team is busy preparing for a joyful holiday season, with special activities for both Christmas and New Year’s Eve. We also invite our guests to join our Pack for a Purpose initiative by bringing school supplies to support children in our neighbouring communities.

86 YEARS OF MEMQRIES AND MOUNTAIN MAGIC
After Albert’s passing in 1987, the hotel remained in the family, with his son William, taking the reins. Together with his wife, Belinda, he ensures that Albert’s glorious vision is kept alive in the grandest fashion to this day. For decades, Cathedral Peak Hotel has welcomed guests from around the world, becoming a beloved destination and a true testament to Albert’s vision. As we celebrate 85 years of unforgettable memories, we honour the legacy of a realized dream, and the countless moments of joy it has brought to so many.

We were honoured to host Malcolm Pearse for the launch of his memoirs All the Hills are Home Volumes 1 & 2. The legendary climber, photographer, and son of R.O. Pearse, the author of Barrier of Spears, Malcolm shared moving stories of the Drakensberg with passion and depth, leaving guests captivated in an intimate lounge setting.

Honouring Mandela Day: A Blood Drive at Cathedral Peak
In the spirit of Mandela Day and giving back, we hosted a blood drive for our wonderful staff and guests. We are deeply grateful to everyone who rolled up their sleeves and took part in this meaningful initiative, helping to make a real difference in our community.

Recently, we partnered with Marriage Meander and a talented creative team for an elopement-styled shoot in the heart of the Drakensberg. Over two days, they captured intimate chapel moments, romantic Honeymoon Suite scenes, dramatic mountain backdrops, and even a few adventurous quad bike shots. This collaboration perfectly showcased the romance and beauty that couples can enjoy at Cathedral Peak Hotel.
